‘Matthew Passion’ CD

In June 2013 the recordings for a new CD of Bach’s Matthew Passion took place in the Grote Kerk, Elburg led by Bach-specialist Pieter Jan Leusink. He has conducted this masterpiece more than 350 times and his masterful interpretation is further developed and captured on this new CD. These recordings were filmed and used for a DVD where Pieter Jan Leusink  speaks about Bach’s St. Matthew Passion: what is an aria, a recitative, why did Bach write Bach for a double choir? Orchestra members from The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands also speak about their instruments: what is so special about a viola da gamba and did you know that there are three oboes used in the St. Matthew Passion? The recording was released in October 2013! Click here to order.
