In the midden of June 2020 the fourth Festival of Classical Music Elburg will take place. Elburg is the birthplace and hometown of the director Pieter Jan Leusink. Beautifully situated on the Veluwe, surrounded by woods and water, the historic town is a wonderful venue for the Festival.
During the first two days of the Festival so-called Walking concerts take place. On Tuesday 16th of June the audience will walk around the estate Zwaluwenburg. There will be three concerts at three different locations.
At the Castle Zwaluwenburg visitors will be enjoying the tenor Martinus Leusink singing, accompanied by the brilliant pianist and improviser Jan Vayne.
The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands, soprano Olga Zinovieva, bass Thilo Dahlmann and conductor Pieter Jan Leusink will perform for you the Bach’s Peasant Cantata at the historical farm ‘De Zwaluwe’.
In the middel of A.Vogel Gardens the countertenor Sytse Buwalda will sing lyric songs accompanied by the lute.
On Wednesday 17th of June the audience visits thee short concerts at three different locations in the city of Elburg: in the Chapel former Agnieten convent, in the Hoogkoor of the Grote Kerk, in the Raadzaal of the former Agnieten convent.
On Thursday 18th of June, especially for 360° Baroque concert, the middle of the Great Church (Grote Kerk) of Elburg will be converted into an arena where the audience will be taking place around the musicians. Therefore there will be close interaction and you will be able to enjoy the beautiful compositions that will be performed by the core of The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands, including Pieter Jan Leusink and soprano Olga Zinovieva. You will listen to the complete performance of Vivaldi´s The Four Seasons in which violinist Igor Ruhadze will play the solo. Olga Zinovieva will be singing the beautiful Stabat Mater by Boccherini and virtuoso motet Ostro Picta by Vivaldi.
On Friday 19th of June Olga Zinovieva and Sytse Buwalda will be performing a beautiful program ‘Italian Barock ‘n Roll’ with Italian arias in the Kloostertuin (the courtyard of the former Agnieten convent). High walls of this location create a special atmosphere and an equally exceptional acoustics.
On Saturday 20th of June The Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands together with pianist Jan Vayne will be presenting the sparkling program The Classical Proms in the Garden. They will take you to the musical journey through the famous compositions by Vivaldi, Puccini, Mozart and Handel. Jan Vayne will surprise you with wide range of his piano improvisations: from sensitive to spectacular. Olga Zinovieva will be singing ‘Voices of Spring’ by J. Strauss. It is difficult to find more suitable location for this song because there you hear a lot of voices of birds singing along.
