Festival Classical Music Elburg


In last two weeks of June 2019 the third Festival of Classical Music Elburg will take place. Elburg is the birthplace and hometown of the director Pieter Jan Leusink. Beautifully situated on the Veluwe, surrounded by woods and water, the historic town is a wonderful venue for the Festival.

The first week is the so-called ‘Bach week’. On Thursday 20th of June The Hommage to Bach concerts are programmed. Bach has written so many compositions which are stunningly beautiful. Olga Zinovieva will sing works including Cantata Nr. 82a ‘Ich habe genug’.

On Friday 21st of June, The Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands will perform the St. Matthew Passion in the Grote Kerk in Elburg. The first weekend of the Festival will be completed on Saturday 22nd June with the comical Peasant- & Cofee Cantatas by Bach in the beautiful courtyard (Koloostertuin) of the former Agnietenklooster in Elburg.

The second week of the festival starts on Wednesday 26th of June with Walking concerts. The audience visits 4 short concerts at 4 different locations: in the Chapel former Agnietenklooster, in the Hoogkoor of the Grote Kerk, in the Raadzaal of the former Agnietenklooster and the last Walking concert takes place in the Kloostertuin.

On Thursday 27th of June Olga Zinovieva and Sytse Buwalda will perform a beautiful program ‘Italian Barok ‘n Roll’ with Italian arias in the Kloostertuin. Also famous Vivaldi’s Four Seasons will be played during this concert by the violinist Igor Ruhadze.

In two last days Thursday 28th and Friday 29th of June, the soprano Olga Zinovieva will take you to her native Russia. Together with The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands, the Siberian born soprano presents the Moscow Nights concerts: most beautiful works composed by her countrymen.
