Moscow Nights

Soprano Olga Zinovieva takes you to her native Russia. Together with The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands, the Siberian born soprano presents the most beautiful works composed by her countrymen. Alongside the famous ‘Vocalise’ by Rachmaninoff, you can also enjoy ‘Rossignol’ (The Nightingale) by Alabiev, where the soprano voice sounds like a real nightingale. Very special and tender is ‘Mary’s Cradle Song’ from Tchaikovsky’s opera Mazeppa. Spectacular and almost never to be heard live because of the extraordinarily high difficulty, is the ‘Concerto for Colaraturo Soprano’ by Glière.

The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands has been expanded with a complete wind section for these concerts. They perform such works as ‘Souvenir de Florence’ by Tchaikovsky and the ‘Romance’ from the film’The Gadfly’ by Shostakovich. An exciting and surprising program with some compositions that you already heard before and some you will hear for the first time in your life!

The concerts will be taking place in the beautiful courtyard (Kloostertuin) of the former Agnietenklooster in Elburg.
