Moscow Nights

Soprano Olga Zinovieva takes you to her native Russia. Together with The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands, the Siberian born soprano presents the most beautiful works composed by her countrymen. Alongside the famous ‘Vocalise’ by Rachmaninoff, you can also enjoy ‘Rossignol’ (The Nightingale) by Alabiev, where the soprano voice sounds like a real nightingale. Very special and tender is ‘Mary’s Cradle Song’ from Tchaikovsky’s opera Mazeppa. Spectacular and almost never to be heard live because of the extraordinarily high difficulty, is the ‘Concerto for Coloraturo Soprano’ by Glière.

The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands has been expanded with a complete wind section for these concerts. They perform such works as ‘Souvenir de Florence’ and the ‘Meditation’ from ‘Souvenir d’un lieu cher’ by Tchaikovsky. An exciting and surprising program with some compositions that you already heard before and some you will hear for the first time in your life! Check the Calendar here.
