Moscow Nights

Soprano Olga Zinovieva takes you to her native Russia. Together with The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands, the Siberian born soprano presents the most beautiful works composed by her countrymen. Alongside the famous ‘Vocalise’ by Rachmaninoff, you can also enjoy ‘Rossignol’ (The Nightingale) by Alabiev, where the soprano voice sounds like a real nightingale. Very special and tender is ‘Mary’s Cradle Song’ from Tchaikovsky’s opera Mazeppa. Spectacular and almost never to be heard live because of the extraordinarily high difficulty, is the ‘Concerto for Colaraturo Soprano’ by Glière. The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands has been expanded with percussion and a complete wind section for these concerts. They perform such works as the ‘Polovtsian Dances’ from the opera ‘Prins Igor’ by Borodin and ‘Sunrise on the Moscow river’ from Mussorgsky’s  Khovanshchina, to name a few. The concerts are concluded with the popular song ‘Moscow Nights’. An exciting and surprising program with many compositions that you will hear for the first time in your life! Check the Calendar here.
